KS2-3 Transition

Transition Overview

The transition to Secondary school can be an exciting, and sometimes daunting experience for students and indeed parents. At St Thomas More, we work very closely with our feeder primary schools to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible. We have a range of transition activities during Year 5 and Year 6 to help students become more familiar with life at St Thomas More and interact with their peers.

The academic transition of students is of great importance to us. Curriculum leaders and teaching staff at St Thomas More work very closely with staff in our primaries to develop a good understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum and the abilities of our children. We gather a wide range of information from Year 6 teachers to ensure that the academic transition is as seamless as possible.

Transition Events

We will be running a programme of events for the current Year 6 students, who will be joining us in September 2025, in order to help ease their transition from Primary to Secondary School. We will write to these parents ahead of each event to provide more details.

Open Evening 26th September 2024

On Thursday 26th September we will be hosting our annual Open Evening where we will welcome prospective parents/carers and students to our school. This will give them the fantastic opportunity to find out more about our school vision, and speak with our students and staff.

Virtual Tour

The below virtual tour provides a unique opportunity to see our school in action, and get a taste of what we can offer our students.
