Our Approach to supporting all

Our Approach to Supporting All

At St Thomas More, our school teams are carefully structured to ensure that every pupil, whatever their individual needs, is supported to thrive. This begins with our high-quality pastoral care and extends to specialist teams that support pupils with additional educational needs or those who benefit from guidance from our Pupil Premium mentors.

A key part of our approach is a relentless focus on inclusivity, love, and respect. We work to create a school community where pupils feel valued, supported, and inspired to give their best. Our philosophy of learning is simple: pupils should enjoy their learning, thrive on challenge, and be fully supported by all staff to succeed.

Our approach to behaviour focuses on restorative conversations, the importance of apology and forgiveness, and the power of love in helping every pupil become the best version of themselves.

We know these philosophies are lived out in practice because pupils, families, and external auditors consistently recognise it. Feedback often highlights that:

  • Pastoral care is a strength of the school
  • Pupils feel safe and valued
  • SEND provision is strong and effective
  • The school environment is calm, orderly, and conducive to learning
  • There is a culture of high ambition
  • Pupils actively live the school motto of “doing the right thing for the right reasons”

We are immensely proud of the inclusive, supportive community we have created at St Thomas More. Our dedicated teams ensure that all pupils, whatever their individual needs, are fully supported to succeed academically, socially, and personally.
