
Year 7 Admissions
In order to apply for a place for your child to join Year 7 at St Thomas More Catholic School, please complete the online application form which is available on the website of your home Local Authority. This needs to be completed in the September or October that your child is in Year 6. For further information please visit the website for your home Local Authority.
Key Dates for September 2026 Entry
- 8 September 2025 Online system opens for parents to apply
- 31 October 2025 Closing date for submitting applications
- 2 March 2026 Offer letters and emails sent to parents
- 10 April 2026 Any places that become available will be offered from the schools waiting list
- May/June 2026 Appeals heard
In Year Transfers
If you would like to transfer your child to St Thomas More Catholic School outside of the standard Year 7 admissions round, please complete the In Year Transfer Form, which is available from your home local authority. For further information please contact Gateshead Local Authority directly, or via their website.
Appeals
If you receive written confirmation refusing your child a place at St Thomas More Catholic School, you have the right to appeal this decision. To do this, please complete and return a ‘Notice of Appeal’ form, available from the school office. Our appeals are coordinated on our behalf by Gateshead Council, therefore they will contact you directly to make arrangements for your appeal to be heard. The Appeal Hearing takes place at the Gateshead Council offices.

Planned Admissions Number
The admissions authority has set its Published Admission Number (PAN) at 250 pupils to be admitted to Year 7, in the school year beginning in the September.
