Extra Curricular Activities for All
At St Thomas More, we place great importance on ensuring that all pupils have the chance to participate in activities beyond the taught curriculum. We distinguish between extra-curricular activities for all pupils and optional extra-curricular activities, providing a wide range of opportunities that support personal development, leadership, and community engagement.
Alongside the opt-in extra-curricular timetable, every pupil takes part in a number of activities throughout the academic year. Highlights include:
- Annual Charity Walk
- Inter-House Pastoral Competitions
- Christmas Cinema Trip
- Christmas Inter-House Quiz
- Lenten Alms and Advent Fundraising
- Pastoral Class Mass
- Sports Day
Additional opportunities to develop skills, experience the world of work, and engage with the wider community include:
- Work experience placements, Careers Week activities, and meetings with employers and training providers
- Encounters with external visitors through the Wider Curriculum programme
- Volunteering and leadership roles, such as Reading in assemblies and school Mass, Form Captain, Forum Representative, Faith in Action Award, Pupil Ambassador, and supporting Open Evenings and family events
- Participating in school productions, inter-house competitions, mock trial competitions, and the Inter-House Swimming Gala
- Community engagement initiatives, including litter collections and campaigns such as Show Racism the Red Card
- Meeting local figures such as the MP
In addition to these school-wide opportunities, we offer a robust optional extra-curricular timetable, with up to 50 activities available each week. Pupils can select activities to match their interests, build new skills, and pursue their passions. The current timetable can be accessed via the link below.
