Curriculum Options For All

Curriculum Options for All

At St Thomas More, we are immensely proud that our curriculum provides clear pathways for every student to progress into our Sixth Form. This is a key priority for our school community — we want every student to feel that there is a place for them within our school, and we work hard to ensure that this remains the case.

Our Sixth Form offers a broad and balanced range of qualifications, including A Levels and vocational qualifications,  ensuring that all students can continue to study subjects that match their strengths, interests, and future aspirations. Each pathway builds naturally on learning at Key Stage 4, allowing for continuity and progression across all subjects.

In addition to their chosen subjects, all Sixth Form students take part in our Core Curriculum Programme. This distinctive feature of our Sixth Form offer gives students the opportunity to develop leadership skills through activities such as reading mentoring with younger pupils, charity fundraising, and other leadership projects. There is a wide range of leadership pathways available for students to choose from, allowing them to take on meaningful roles within our school community.

Another key element of our Core Curriculum is our Horizons Programme — a structured and engaging curriculum that enables students to explore the local area, take part in group challenges, and receive tailored support with their future plans. Students consistently tell us that the Core Curriculum is a real strength of our Sixth Form. It provides opportunities to collaborate with peers and staff in new and enjoyable ways, helping them to develop essential life skills that will serve them well beyond St Thomas More.
