Equality and Diversity

Equality & Diversity

As a Catholic school, the dignity of each person as a child of God is central to our interactions as a school community. Every member of our school is valued, celebrated and supported.

As such, we create an environment where all students can thrive together and understand that individual characteristics make people unique and not ‘different’ in a negative way. We challenge any negative attitudes amongst students, and our pastoral systems ensure that students have a trusted adult who they can talk to.

We have a wide and responsive range of opportunities for students to understand, explore and embrace their differences, such as our LGBTQ+ support group or our celebration of culture within the curriculum, such as in music, art, or literature.

Students are also explicitly supported to deepen their understanding of protected characteristics through the Wider Curriculum and are regularly encouraged through our assembly programme to challenge themselves and reflect on how they embrace diversity.

At a whole school level, we regularly consider how we embrace equality and diversity within our curriculum, policies and broader school culture.

The School reviews the Equality and diversity Policy regularly and can be found on the link below.
